Eyebrow Transplant Results

Ideal Candidates for an Eyebrow Transplant

The ideal candidates for an eyebrow transplant:

  • Have thinning or patchy eyebrows due to over-lucking, aging, or conditions such as alopecia
  • Can provide donor hair from the back or side of the head
  • Has the same color of hair between the eyebrows and scalp

the Eyebrow Transplant Procedure

The eyebrow transplant procedure follows a three-step process that is very similar to FUE & FUT hair transplant procedures.

Eyebrow Examination

Before the procedure, we examine the extent of eyebrow hair loss along with the root cause of the hair loss be it plucking, alopecia, trauma, or any other cause. Using this information, we determine the number of grafts (groups of hair follicles) needed to achieve the optimal result.

Donor Hair Extraction

Next, we extract hair from the back or side of the head to be transplanted to the eyebrows. This extraction will either be in the form of an FUE, where individual grafts are harvested, or in the form of an FUT, where a small strip is extracted from the back of the head and individual grafts are taken from the strip.

Donor Hair Implantation

The final stage of the eyebrow transplant is the donor hair implantation. Our team expertly places the grafts to ensure the new hair growth blends naturally with the existing eyebrow. Our craftsmanship shines as the eyebrow naturally fills in for a thicker and fuller appearance.

Selecting Number of Grafts

Dr. Koher Has Performed Surgeries Up to 4,500 Grafts

Dr. Koher is the most experienced physician in the Carolinas and can perform any hair transplant procedure. However, we believe in using the least amount of grafts possible to achieve the desired results.

We Believe in Quality over Quantity

Many physicians tell patients they need 3,000 – 5,000 grafts due to their lack of skill in hair transplant procedures. Most people will never need more than 2,500 grafts, and using more can permanently destroy the donor area.

Our approach is to use the minimum amount of grafts possible to achieve the desired results. This leaves plenty of donor hair for many people to have a second procedure later in life if it becomes necessary.

Choosing Between Extraction Methods

There are two extraction methods available for an eyebrow transplant. Several factors determine which will be best for you. The table below displays the primary difference in each extraction method.

Pricing Table
Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
A strip of hair is extracted from the donor area Individual hair follicles are extracted from the donor area
Hair around the donor area remains the same length Donor area must be shaved
Small scar will be visible if hair is worn short (< 2 in) No visible scarring after the procedure
For both procedures, the implant process to the eyebrow is the same.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the procedure take?

Eyebrow transplants typically take 3-4 hours to complete, but this can vary by case size, hair type, and surgery type.

Full recovery can take anywhere from 2-14 days. The surgeries are relatively nonintrusive and most people only experience minor discomfort easily treatable with Advil or Tylenol.

Many of our patients can return to work the next day. For several days after the procedure, there may be swelling and redness on the head, which those working in customer-facing positions should remember.

We recommend not wearing a hat until the third day following the procedure.

You will notice new hair on your head in 3-4 months and experience full results in 12-18 months.

Most of our patients describe the surgery as mildly uncomfortable, not painful.
