Cost Per Graft

In the hair restoration industry, hair transplant cost is primarily determined by price per graft. A hair graft typically contains 1 to 4 hairs per bundle. We gather these hair bundles through one of two surgical techniques: the FUE and FUT method.

With the FUT method, we harvest a strip of tissue from a patient’s donor area (the back/sides of a scalp) and dissect the material into individual hair bundles. This is done by an expert group of surgical technicians who effortlessly prepare each hair bundle for transplantation. FUE on the other hand requires that each hair be individually harvested by one or two technicians using micro punches. This requires significantly more time to complete harvesting before transplantation can begin, and as such FUE cases are more expensive than FUT procedures.

Our current price for FUT procedures is $5.00 per graft, and for FUE procedures it is $6.00 per graft. The minimum case size for both treatments is 1000 grafts, As the case size increases, the cost per graft is reduced.

The number of grafts needed for a hair transplant will vary depending on the individual case and the extent of hair loss. Factors such as the size of the area being treated, the density of the hair, and the patient's hair characteristics and goals, will all be taken into consideration when determining the number of grafts needed. On average, a hair transplant procedure can range from around 1000 to 3000 grafts, but it can be more or less depending on the case. In general, the more hair that needs to be transplanted, the more grafts will be needed to achieve the desired results. The image above can give a general concept of expected graft amounts needed per area, although individual patient needs may vary.
